Sometimes, we will experience silence from God. We don’t hear anything from Him.
Or is it true?
I personally question that many times.
Should I always expect to hear from God? Is it because I am too busy and distracted that I could NOT hear His voice? Or am I too stubborn or delusional that I ignore and not take heed of His nudging?
Or is it in purpose that God do not want to speak to me… Maybe because I have sinned or disobeyed Him?
It could be a combination of those.
Whatever it may be, the question is not why we do not hear from God.
More importantly is,
What do we do when we do not hear from God? How do we tackle the silence?….
Do we fill the void with something else? Like entertainment, work, family, etc?
Nope… Instead….
“Go out, and stand on the mountain before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
1 Kings 19:11-13 (NKJV)
We need to “Be Still and Wait upon the Lord”. He will speak to us.
“Be still, and know that I am God.”
Psalm 46:10
Question is, are we quietened enough to be able to hear His still small voice?
